Tracing the Evolution of Children’s Art in Bangladesh: from the Early Twentieth Century to the Digital Age
Abstract:
Children’s art practices are a prevalent feature in contemporary societies, including Bangladesh. This topic has not been thoroughly addressed, particularly in the Bangladeshi context. There is a lack of historical records and a formal documentation process for children’s art, making it challenging to trace its evolution. Based on my research, I aim to understand and articulate the changing landscape of child art in Bangladesh. This research draws on case studies and existing publications related to child art to provide a clearer picture. My focus is on uncovering the historical context of Bangladeshi children’s art and analysing its subject matter and visual language from the analogue era to the digital age. Moreover, I explored the preliminary stage of the digital age to understand the pattern of influence of the conventional academic system and the method of transformation of knowledge in the age of new media.
